Lunar
I rode the road by nocturnal sky
And peered up at the lesser light
The clouded canvas had made a try
At smothering the waxing cry
Yet lunar glow still won this night
I marveled at the shining rock
In all its reflected glory
Moored in space to earthly dock
Tethered with a tidal lock
It insisted on a story
An epic of Shade’s war on Sol
The tactics, weapons, and wins
How cyclically, in part or whole
Earth on moon exacts a toll
And Light takes one on the chin
I found this quite a terrible thought
In strength the shadow seemed great
Then I recalled that dark was naught
For ever morn by day it’s caught
And smothered for its hate
